Seven Dimensions – Commonization
Lear Flexible Seat Architecture
Lear Flexible Seat Architecture (LFSA) and Next Generation (NG) LFSA provide modular front-seat architecture that can be applied to multiple programs using common components. NG LFSA maximizes legroom for rear-seat passengers.

-
Product Benefits:
- Modular structure provides for design freedom
- Latest safety technology available – Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Side Impact, Rear Impact, SAHR, International Standards Organization Fix
- Uses best-in-class components
- NG LFSA packages both thoracic and pelvic air bag
Program Highlights:
- ED/D cost reduction
- Common components strategy reduces costs
- Reduced development/implementation time
- Reduced capital investment, tooling, and piece price
Gateway Modules
Applications such as infotainment, telemetry, safety, and control require the use of several networking standards. A gateway module allows the various network Bus protocols to communicate.

-
Product Benefits:
- Centralized module authentication and signature for theft protection and original parts checking
Program Highlights:
- Bus structure for internal and external data transfer
- Fast flash update of complete car software
- Centralized diagnosis
- Additional options possible (centralized energy, battery management, etc.)
Solid State Smart Junction Box
Lear's Solid State Smart Junction Box addresses the need to provide more electronic content in vehicles without the additional weight of circuit protection devices. The Solid State Smart Junction Box uses a single small, printed circuit board for power distribution and body control functions. This single board replaces many of the fuses, relays, and associated hardware used in conventional smart junction boxes.

-
Product Benefits:
- Reduced weight, number of parts, and manufacturing complexity
- Increased electrical efficiency and improved diagnostics and protection
- No mechanical contacts to wear out
Program Highlights:
- Reduced systems costs 5% to 20%
- Reduced weight by up to 70%
- More efficient use of the electrical distribution system
- Increased packaging flexibility
