Newsroom Lear Honored with Three 2006 World Excellence Awards From Ford Motor Company


SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lear Corporation (NYSE: LEA) today announced it has received three Ford Motor Company World Excellence Awards for superior performance in 2006. There are three types of World Excellence Awards -- Gold, Silver and Recognition of Achievement. The Gold and Silver Awards are given to suppliers that excel in quality, delivery and cost, and 14 suppliers received the Gold Award and 33 suppliers were awarded Silver. Six suppliers received a Recognition of Achievement Award, which is given to suppliers who impact customer satisfaction by providing significant contributions in key areas such as Environmental Leadership, Consumer-Focused Technology and Consumer-Driven 6-Sigma.

Lear received a Gold Award for excellence in quality, cost and delivery for seating at its plant in Genk, Belgium, and a Silver Award for seating at its St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada facility. Additionally, Lear won a Recognition of Achievement for Consumer-Driven 6-Sigma efforts at its St. Thomas, Ontario, facility related to a project that had a direct impact on Ford customer satisfaction. With three awards, Lear received to highest number of awards for any single supplier.
