Carla Sarti
Director of Global Business Processes - United States
Carla Sarti had worked as a consultant and searched for opportunities to be a part of a company to which she could contribute her talents in helping its transformation. She joined Lear Corporation as Director - Global Shared Services and Business Process Optimization at Lear’s World Headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.
Coming from an automotive family with a deep passion for cars, she also lived in Dubai for 3 years as a child which sparked her global career interests. Her accomplishments illustrate her application: a BS in Management, an MBA, Six Sigma Green Belt and Project Management certification. Having earned so much with great focus, Carla turned to where she could join other achievers on a true career path.
As Carla says, "Lear's growth and strategy is what attracted me. The bonus is the people. I'm fairly new, but I feel like I was welcomed into the Lear family on day 1." She also praises the diversity of thinking and entrepreneurial spirit. "Based on what I've seen, if there is something you think could be improved even more, it's within your control to make those recommendations."
Value stream management techniques Carla employs show methods that can be commonized and standardized to gain efficiencies. She notes most people don't realize that value stream management can be applied to the office environment as well as the manufacturing floor. She also helps streamline all other administrative processes using the same techniques, the goal being the same: working towards simplifying the planning process for lean implementation as well as educating team members on the related skills needed to implement new methods.
Helping others in this way sparks ideas for positive change with the result, as Carla summarizes, "you are in charge of your destiny here. If you show interest in different things, opportunities will open up."
