Nancy Liu
Sales Manager - China
A native of Shanghai, China, Nancy Liu graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Shanghai University. Before joining Lear Corporation, Nancy worked in Human Resources for another international manufacturer, but in September 2007 Lear provided an opportunity for Nancy to move up into management.
Nancy worked in that role until February 2011, and Lear opened a new path when she transferred to Sales and gained even more in-depth knowledge about Lear, the automotive industry and business in general.
Lear knew Nancy's engineering background illustrated that she possessed ability to study complex subjects. Lear provided the opportunity to broaden her other skills, and Nancy states, "I would say people skills are definitely the most important attribute for Human Resources." She illustrated her dedication by being willing to help out wherever needed, but she noticed something that stood out for her: she was "more than happy that Lear's management team valued my suggestions and recommendations."
Nancy appreciates learning key skills she didn't learn elsewhere, particularly complex financial knowledge. She discovered that Lear encourages people to take on challenges and provides support so they grow as professionals. She assumed a position of great responsibility by overseeing one of Lear's most important customers.
Nancy particularly appreciates the opportunity to work for a place that is "straightforward, open-minded and fast moving." Someone with Nancy's ambition, success and language skills could work many places but Lear impresses her by its "aggressiveness, recognition, being result-oriented and most importantly there being lots of cross-functional opportunities which helps on career development."
Nancy urges people to "take me as an example, moving from Human Resources to Sales." In fact, Lear takes her as an example of someone making his or her way, one person's drive meeting a team's demonstrated commitment to fostering the growth of its employees.
